About The Position

Build reliability into every cut Role: CNC Machine Tool Reliability Mechanic Shift: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. (weekends as needed) Location: Alsip, IL Pay: Starting at $23.10–$35.00 per hour, based on experience A day in the life At 7:00 a.m., you walk the floor and start with safety: lockout/tagout checks, a scan of active work orders, and a quick touch-base with operators. Before lunch, you’ve interpreted an electrical schematic to isolate a fault on a CNC, swapped a hydraulic valve after tracing pressure loss on a hydraulic circuit, and aligned a new conveyor during a relocation. The afternoon sees you updating PM records, reading mechanical prints to prep a rebuild, and mentoring teammates on safe troubleshooting practices. You go home knowing the shop runs smoother tomorrow because of the groundwork you laid today. What you’ll take on Champion safety for yourself, teammates, contractors, and customers; follow company procedures and report hazards. Keep work areas orderly and aligned with preventive maintenance best practices. Read and create wiring diagrams, schematics, and layouts to diagnose issues quickly. Lead the installation, removal, and relocation of equipment and supporting utilities. Interpret and troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic schematics to determine repair needs. Apply Lock Out/Tag Out every time service work is performed. Tackle additional assignments with craftsmanship and urgency.

Requirements

  • 3+ years in manufacturing maintaining mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • 3+ years servicing CNC and manual machine tools; high school diploma, trade school certification, or GED preferred.
  • 2+ years troubleshooting/repairing hydraulic and pneumatic circuits, as well as heating, cooling, and general building systems.
  • 2+ years reading blueprints, mechanical prints, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience using micrometers, gages, meters, calipers, and related precision tools.
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude and technical acumen with an eye for safety and continuous improvement.
  • Self-directed while contributing positively to a collaborative team.
  • Clear verbal and written communication; proficient in speaking and reading English.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving in fast-paced, technical settings.

Nice To Haves

  • HS Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
