This is a full-time position working 40 hours a week, Monday-Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm with occasional weekends and evenings. The Community Impact Coordinator serves as a brand advocate for Meritrust and plays a role in enhancing the visibility of Meritrust in the community, challenged with taking an established calendar of sponsorships, events and partnerships, and bringing forth new and different ideas to capitalize on them. The Community Impact Coordinator will assist in seeking out new and retaining strategic relationships designed to maintain and increase existing brand awareness, providing a consistent presence throughout their assigned market, assisting in the creation of marketing that is market specific and personalized for each strategically identified audience, and driving business directly to branches and other departments through referrals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Understanding community engagement principles and practices.
  • Expertise in event planning and management, including logistics and promotion.
  • Familiarity with volunteer recruitment and management strategies.
  • Basic knowledge of marketing and communication techniques promote events and initiatives.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in event planning, volunteer coordination, sales, or community outreach.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in the ability to ensure excellent member-client service.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve a successful event.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple events and volunteer activities simultaneously.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively promote events and engage volunteers.
  • Business Development: Ability to build and maintain relationships with employees, volunteers and community partners.
  • Expertise in promoting the credit union through events.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills to address challenges and ensure successful event execution.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with various teams across the credit union as well as external partners.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, business development, marketing or community development or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with partners and community-based organizations within our service areas to ensure timely and effective communication regarding the operation of events sponsored or supported by the credit union.
  • Plans, organizes, and executes external sponsorships and events. Includes internal and external communications, facilitating payments, recruiting employee volunteers, coordinating collateral materials (e.g., logos, flyers, giveaways, signage, etc.), and photos for social media.
  • Coordinates community outreach programs and special events that positively influence public opinion or promotes products, services, or perception of the company.
  • Assists with plans for larger, long-term brand sponsorships (e.g., sports or venue-specific) to deliver various marketing initiatives and generate business opportunities during and as a result of sponsored events
  • Maintains community relations tracking spreadsheet. Responsible for obtaining and inputting all necessary information, which is utilized for reporting by Marketing and Compliance.
  • In-person representation at events and community gatherings (e.g., check presentation photos, community events, etc.) is required on a regular basis.
  • Recruit, schedule and organize employee volunteers for community and business development events.
  • Promote our products and services at community events and provide market feedback to Growth Strategies teams as needed.
  • Support partners and execute initiatives included in the business development plan that align with the corporate strategic community sponsorship objectives.
  • Build professional and trusting relationships with key community and business contacts.
  • Serve as staff liaison to designated groups or organizations deemed priorities in the market, such as local nonprofit organizations and universities.
