As the Coastal Hazards and Resilience Coordinator, you will serve as the Coastal Hazards Organizational Resilience Team (COHORT) Liaison for Washington State University (WSU) Extension. In this role, you will work in partnership with representatives from other COHORT agencies, including the Washington Department of Ecology, Washington Sea Grant, and the Washington Emergency Management Division, to advance COHORT’s strategic initiatives as outlined in the 2025 COHORT Strategic Plan. COHORT is a multi agency partnership established through legislative direction under Washington Public Law 5187 S.PL. You will contribute to COHORT’s mission to strengthen long term social, economic, and organizational resilience across Washington’s 15 coastal counties by improving cross agency coordination, supporting community driven project development, and advancing preparedness, adaptation, and recovery efforts related to coastal hazards such as flooding, erosion, landslides, earthquakes, tsunamis, and climate driven changes. In your role as Liaison, you will collaborate across multiple agencies and WSU Extension county offices within your assigned region. You will ensure alignment with WSU Extension’s mission, vision, and goals, build and maintain strong partnerships with local and tribal governments and stakeholders, and support a cohesive and effective team of COHORT professionals. Additional Information: This is a full time ( 100% FTE), temporary position. This position is overtime eligible. Temporary End Date: This is a temporary position expected to end on June 30, 2027. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment. Funding has been renewed successfully for several years and we expect funding to continue to be renewed.
