Your Key Responsibilities As our Billing and Coding Specialist, you’ll serve as the linchpin between clinical documentation and financial outcomes by: Medical Coding Accurately code office visits and ambulatory surgical center (ASC) procedures using current CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes. Review medical records and provider documentation to ensure complete and precise coding. Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and payer-specific regulations. Assist in educating providers on coding accuracy and documentation best practices. Perform charge entries and ensure proper code assignment for all services rendered. Medical Billing Post charges and submit claims to insurance providers in a timely and accurate manner. Work claim rejections and denials especially those related to coding errors and submit corrected claims as needed. Manage daily billing operations including claim scrubber edits, claim follow-ups, and encounter resolution. Monitor denial trends and collaborate with clinical staff to implement preventive solutions. Handle collections, data entry, and maintain accurate patient account records.

Requirements

  • Certification: CPC, or equivalent credential through AAPC or AHIMA.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2+ years in both orthopedic/ASC medical billing and coding.
  • Technical Proficiency: Must be fluent in EMR systems; eClinicalWorks (ECW) experience is required.
  • Detail-Oriented: Sharp attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multi-task efficiently.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal skills to collaborate with providers and billing staff.
  • Self-Starter: Proactive and motivated to solve problems and contribute to a high-functioning team.
