About The Position

Consumers Credit Union is looking for a passionate Collector to join our team. As a Collector, you will support the Collection department with the management of our consumer lending and mortgage portfolio; acting on delinquent accounts, collecting on payments and/or collateral, while providing superior member service to enhance member relationships.

Requirements

• Knowledge of all aspects of collections, including a good understanding of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and legal aspects of collections.
• Good analytical judgment and creative problem solving capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong listening and empathy skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Knowledge of current technology; able to easily navigate multiple software environments.
• Understanding of credit union history, philosophy, culture, values, and vision.
• Understanding of Consumers rules, regulations and operating policies and procedures.
• High school graduate or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Make collection calls to delinquent members (consumer, business and real estate).
• Place collection notes on all delinquent accounts called.
• Counsel delinquent member regarding their debts.
• Make on-site field calls as needed.
• Comply with all servicing guidelines for delinquent mortgages.
• Assist in any area as directed by your supervisor.
• Demonstrate knowledge of all Consumers products and services.
• Upholds member confidentiality.
