Job Description The College Access & Success Coordinator is responsible for excellent educational programming that achieves the Uncommon mission of preparing its students for success at competitive four-year colleges and universities.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of office experience preferred, ideally with an education agency
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong interpersonal skills with students, parents, colleagues and community members
  • Basic finance skills and comfort learning new finance processes
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint
  • Maturity and ability to work independently
  • Must enjoy contact with children and parents
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines
  • Able to lift and move packages up to 30 lbs.
  • Bachelor’s degree required

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working in schools and/or urban communities preferred
  • Spanish-speaking skills strongly preferred to support effective communication with our students, families, and community members.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general administrative duties such as answering phones, ordering office supplies, and facilitating mailings and electronic submission of school documents to colleges.
  • Coordinates and schedules college admissions officer visits to school during the fall semester.
  • Manages and tracks student requests to attend college visits.
  • Manages the collection and input of student data including standardized test scores, contact information for partner colleges & universities, event RSVP and attendance, etc.
  • Manages expense reporting and reimbursement requests for both the Alumni Coordinator and the Director of College Completion via purchase order software.
  • Assists Alumni Coordinator with gathering student materials and compiling reimbursement reports for the Alumni Book Scholarship.
  • Assists with the scheduling of seasonal parent meetings for college counselors.
  • Communicates regularly with students and parents via hard mailings, email blasts, phone blasts and direct phone calls.
  • Works with office staff on the planning, implementation and execution of all special programs and events . These events include, but are not limited to mock interviews, college road trips, college fairs, essay writing retreats, Alumni Day, Senior Signing Day, Graduation, etc.
  • Participates actively in all training and professional development sessions throughout the year
  • Meets weekly with office staff to check in on departmental tasks and milestones.
  • Reports to Director of College Counseling.
  • Coordinates with the Operations staff regarding family paperwork and contact information.
  • Be present and engaged throughout the school day, on a schedule approved by their Manager, in accordance with the School calendar.
  • Work periodic evenings (school wide events such as report card conferences, student performances, etc.)
  • Commit to continual professional growth, participating actively in department meetings, faculty meetings, and other meetings.
  • Participate in an annual three-week staff orientation and training.
