GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist instructors with classroom and lab preparation (setting up tools, equipment, and training materials). Help maintain shop organization, cleanliness, and inventory of parts, tools and training aids. Support program staff with clerical duties such as data entry, filing, copying, and preparing instructional materials. Assist in maintaining student records, attendance logs, and program documentation. Help coordinate program events such as advisory board meetings, open houses, and student tours. Assist with tagging and organizing equipment, tools, and donations received from John Deere dealerships. Provide front-line assistance to students and visitors in the shop or office areas. Perform other duties as assigned to support the improvement of the John Deere TECH learning environment. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Minimum Qualifications: Must be currently enrolled as a student at Navarro College. Must qualify for Federal Work Study funding. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently once trained. Comfortable working in both office and shop environments. Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook). Preferred Qualifications: Enrollment in the John Deere TECH of Agriculture Mechanization Program. Experience or interest in diesel technology, mechanical systems, or agricultural equipment. Familiarity with safety procedures and shop equipment. Positive attitude and willingness to assist faculty, staff, and students. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in both classroom, office, and diesel lab/shop environments. Exposure to moderate noise, tools, machinery, and mechanical equipment in shop settings. May require standing, walking, bending, lifting, or moving objects up to 40 pounds with or without assistance. Must follow all Navarro College safety policies and John Deere TECH Program lab safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when in shop areas. Work schedule and duties may vary based on class schedules, lab projects, and program events. Position requires professionalism, team work, and adherence to established safety and conduct standards at all times.
