Commercial HVAC & Plumbing Estimator

About the position

This is a full-time role at TP Mechanical. The individual will be responsible for estimation and takeoffs of HVAC and/or plumbing jobs. A good understanding of all aspects of mechanical contracting is essential, along with the ability to communicate effectively with contractors, designers, owners, and job-site personnel, representing TP Mechanical Contractors in a professional manner.

Responsibilities

• Job takeoffs and pricing.
• Obtain quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Stay current with all estimating software and attend training as needed and/or required.
• Work with VP of Estimating on Estimating database development and maintenance.
• Develop estimating spreadsheets with VP of Estimating.
• Ensure smooth and timely project turnover from Estimating to Project Management with VP of Estimating.
• Work with vendors and subcontractors to secure scopes and final pricing, including calling and/or meeting with them to discuss their scope of work.
• Clearly write scope letters.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 5 years commercial experience in plumbing or heating estimation or completion of approved apprenticeship program and 3 years’ experience as a Journeyman.
• 5 years prior estimating experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Knowledge of general plumbing and piping installation, sheet metal, HVAC, or fire protection (as assigned).
• Good math ability.
• Good computer skills (knowledgeable with Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook).
• Detail oriented.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Estimation and/or Quicken experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate on a professional level in front of peers, co-workers, and customers.
