About The Position

The CLO is responsible for developing commercial loan business relationships. The individual will actively prospect for business opportunities to grow the loan portfolio and work with existing members to broaden and deepen existing relationships. The Commercial Loan Officer is an active member of the bank’s sales team and is expected to appropriately introduce customers and prospects to internal bank partners to help ensure the customer’s full financial needs are met. Specific accountabilities include the assessment of all business and / or personal banking needs and providing appropriate and timely solutions to exceed business member expectations. This position is hybrid, reporting to our Basking Ridge, NJ office 1x per week and the ability to travel within the assigned region of Morris County, NJ. The starting salary range for a new hire in this role is $100k to $130k. The wage/salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several qualifying factors, including but not limited to: years of relevant experience, years of industry experience, education, etc.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of experience in Commercial Lending and Business Development is required.
Selected candidate must be Credit Trained as a requirement of this role.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Must be detail oriented and possess strong organizational and documentation skills.
Excellent negotiating skills and ability to multi task.
Ability to travel extensively within the Morris County, NJ footprint is required.

Responsibilities

Develop new and existing commercial loan business relationships, coordinating efforts with credit, servicing, branch, and business development staff.
Request applicant financial statements, credit reports, and other information pertinent to the loan applicant’s evaluation to help ensure loan meets established lending requirements.
Interview loan applicants and collect and analyze financial and related data to determine the general creditability of the prospect and the merits of the specific loan request; establishes and negotiates the terms under which credit will be extended, including the costs, repayment, and collateral requirement.
Compile loan packages and facilitate negotiation of loan structure with applicants; ensure loan agreements are complete and accurate according to Bank policy; ensure timely loan closing and funding activities.
Maintain credit quality and portfolio administration within bank guidelines: renewing and documenting maturing loans in advance of maturity deadlines, participate in the collection of delinquent accounts.
Serve as a member of the Credit Union’s sales team; attend networking events, identify qualified referrals, make calls that will improve the opportunity for new business development.
Maintain an active role in community affairs to improve Credit Union’s visibility in the area; serve on various civic committees to increase Bank community involvement.
Maintain a working knowledge of Bank operating policies and procedures which impact commercial services.
New loan requests, increases, and renewals are structured, reviewed, approved, documented, and funded in a timely manner, delivering excellent business service to new and existing business members.
Site visits are conducted prior to scheduled date and used as a tool to assess member needs and identify opportunities to increase business engagement, activation and usage.
Assess business and member needs and deliver solutions to exceed business member expectations.
Evaluate the business environment for developing trends and product and service recommendations.
