About The Position

Costy’s Energy Services is seeking a Commercial Operations & Finance Manager to strengthen the financial and commercial discipline of the company’s operations. This role will work at the intersection of operations, finance, and commercial strategy to ensure services performed by the company are priced correctly, captured accurately, and billed properly. The position will play a key role in identifying areas of revenue loss and revenue growth, improving billing accuracy, implementing procurement systems, and strengthening financial visibility across the organization. The Commercial Operations & Finance Manager will work directly with the Director of Operations and operational leadership while also collaborating with accounting and FP&A functions. This role will report directly to the CEO. The position is based in Corning, NY and is not a remote role. Periodic travel may be required to company locations in Mansfield, PA, Montoursville, PA, and West Alexander, PA. Over time, this position is expected to expand into broader financial leadership responsibilities and may evolve into a higher level finance position with the company.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in operations finance, commercial finance, procurement management, pricing strategy, or business analysis preferred
  • Strong analytical and financial problem-solving skills
  • Experience managing vendor agreements, procurement programs, or pricing structures
  • Strong understanding of operational financial performance and cost analysis
  • Ability to work effectively with both financial personnel and operational leadership
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to develop practical systems and processes that improve operational financial performance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in operational industries such as energy services, construction, transportation, logistics, or industrial services is highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Identify areas of revenue leakage and missed billing opportunities across business units
  • Conduct frequent audits of business unit invoicing practices and billing systems
  • Ensure all operational activity is properly captured and invoiced
  • Implement systems and processes that reduce billing errors and missed charges
  • Optimize the company’s electronic ticketing systems to ensure operational activity converts accurately into billable charges
  • Improve billing discipline across business units and operational teams
  • Build and maintain pricing structures by business unit to manage customer pricing frameworks
  • Support annual customer pricing reviews and contract structures
  • Work with operational leadership to ensure pricing agreements are properly implemented in billing systems
  • Assist management with preparation and evaluation of annual customer RFQs and pricing proposals
  • Provide analysis to ensure competitive pricing while protecting company margins
  • Design, implement, maintain, and oversee company procurement programs
  • Develop structured procurement systems organized by category, vendor, and location
  • Negotiate vendor agreements and pricing structures to maximize purchasing efficiency and cost savings
  • Develop vendor pricing frameworks and vendor RFP processes where appropriate
  • Monitor procurement spending trends and ensure purchasing practices follow negotiated vendor agreements
  • Work with operational leadership to ensure purchasing discipline across the organization
  • Work with FP&A and accounting personnel to analyze financial performance across business units
  • Identify opportunities for revenue growth, cost reduction, and margin improvement
  • Provide reporting that improves leadership visibility into operational margins and financial performance
  • Support operational leadership with financial insights related to pricing, procurement, and operational efficiency
  • Evaluate existing operational and financial systems to identify opportunities for improved integration and reporting
  • Identify software solutions that improve financial visibility, billing accuracy, and operational efficiency
  • Recommend systems that improve connectivity between operational systems, billing processes, and financial reporting
  • Work to streamline administrative processes and reduce manual operational workflows
  • Work with company leadership to strengthen financial discipline across operations
  • Support development of stronger financial processes, reporting structures, and operational financial controls
  • Over time, expand involvement in financial operations and processes that may evolve into controller-level responsibilities
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required, including anything considered reasonably associated with the position that adds to or prevents loss in benefit to the business
