This role provides credit analysis, underwriting expertise, and relationship management for the Commercial Lending Team, focusing on medium to large, moderately to highly complex commercial loans, including Commercial Real Estate (CRE), Commercial Construction, and Commercial & Industrial (C&I) credits. The Commercial Portfolio Administrator also recommends risk rating adjustments and supports credit quality through detailed loan reviews. Schedule: Approximately 40 hours within a Monday through Friday work week

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or accounting; or five years of relevant banking or credit union experience in commercial lending.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including advanced financial calculations and formula use.
  • Knowledge of financial accounting theory, credit policies, and commercial lending standards, with experience analyzing C&I, CRE, Construction, and SBA loans.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements related to commercial lending.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrates exceptional accuracy and thoroughness in financial analysis.
  • Able to effectively guide and train team members, promoting a collaborative environment.
  • Maintains consistent attendance and takes responsibility for performance.
  • Represents Westmark positively, both during and outside work hours.
  • Applies meticulous attention to detail in managing and reviewing loan portfolios.
  • Manual Dexterity and hand-eye coordination for tasks such as typing and operating office equipment.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Visual and auditory abilities to understand and communicate with the public.
  • Repetitive motion using wrists, hands, and fingers.
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 15 lbs., if required for departmental tasks.
  • Minimal travel for training or community events.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and coach junior and new Commercial Credit Analysts, providing guidance and training.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of commercial lending policies, procedures, and regulatory changes.
  • Oversee the commercial lending portfolio, performing periodic loan reviews, handling credit extensions, and managing new credit requests.
  • Complete quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reviews of loans in the portfolio and make recommendations for risk rating changes.
  • Analyze financial data related to new and renewal loan requests.
  • Use standardized financial analysis software to calculate business lending ratios and identify trends for loan reviews.
  • Communicate borrower financial strengths and weaknesses to Commercial Loan Officers and the SVP of Commercial Lending to inform loan review processes.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly portfolio reports for the SVP of Commercial Lending and/or the CLXO-Commercial/Real Estate.
  • Maintain accurate records in the LoanVantage System for required monitoring data and borrower information.
  • Recommend and implement procedures to monitor loan collateral, including insurance, property tax compliance, appraisals, and reserve requirements.
  • Perform ongoing covenant testing and monitor real estate tax and hazard insurance payments.
  • Participate in Westmark-sponsored community events, representing the Credit Union professionally.
  • Occasionally provide backup support for Credit Analysts managing new credit requests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the SVP of Commercial Lending.
