About The Position

In collaboration with the Head of Communications, the Communications Associate will assist in both the planning and execution of communications programs designed to create and maintain a favorable image of the firm. The Communications Associate will forge strong relationships with key stakeholders including media, company executives, clients, industry influencers and fellow employees. Will work to identify new and emerging opportunities to enhance the firm's visibility.

  • Minimum Required: B.S. or B.A. in Communications/Journalism or related field
  • Minimum Required: 1-2 years experience in Public Relations/Journalism/ Communications, preferably in Financial Services industry
  • Minimum Required: None
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook

Responsibilities

  • Draft communications material for both internal and external use. This includes: press releases, biographies, bylines, white papers, presentation, website copy, etc.
  • Work closely with graphics and design to create visual elements to support PR and communications campaigns
  • Engage regularly with firm spokespeople, expert commentators and executives.
  • Communicate with associates from other regions (Canada, UK, Europe) to better incorporate global initiatives into overall Stifel Institutional brand narratives.
  • Respond to inquiries from the press in a timely and professional manner.
  • Conduct proactive media outreach to effectively promote the firm's thought leaders, franchise research and significant transactions.
  • Research and create narratives for pitching reporters across various platforms and geographies.
  • Manage all aspects of in-house studio production, including equipment maintenance and facilitation of all recordings and TV live shots with company spokespeople/executives.
  • Help build and manage an active social media presence for the firm and select executives.
  • Take the lead on digital marketing initiatives, including the creation and execution of LinkedIn sponsored content campaigns.
  • Manage website content across Stifel companies, keeping sites robust, factual, and updated.
  • Prepare briefing materials.
  • Maintain and update various internal databases to be used by business partners firm-wide for new business pitches and presentations.
  • Maintain up-to-date media databases, track press coverage and report activity in compelling ways.
  • Monitor industry & competitor news and prepare intelligence reports.
  • Create and update editorial calendars.
  • Seek and secure opportunities for leadership to participate in strategically important industry conferences, events and panels.
  • Coordinate awards entries, directory placements and survey submissions.
  • Assist marketers with client-focused communications as needed.
