About The Position

Mason Preparatory School is an independent Pre K-8 school dedicated to educating the whole child through strong relationships, academic excellence, and an engaging, student-centered learning environment. We are seeking a creative and motivated Communications & Social Media Intern to support our digital storytelling and outreach efforts. The intern will work closely with the Director of Communications to create engaging content that highlights student life, academic programs, and the Mason Prep community for both current families and prospective parents. This is a part-time, unpaid internship intended for students seeking professional experience. It is ideal for someone interested in building a portfolio of real-world communications work while learning how story-telling, social media, and digital content support a thriving school community. Position Details: Title: Communications and Social Media Intern Reports to: Director of Communications Classification: Internship (Unpaid; eligible for academic credit) Dates: August to December 2026 (Flexible) Schedule: Part-Time; ~ 10 hours per week (Flexible) Location: Hybrid (On-campus content capture; Remote editing)

Nice To Haves

  • Current college student in Communications, Marketing, PR, English, or a related field
  • Interest in communications, marketing, social media, or digital media
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with Instagram, Facebook, and/or LinkedIn
  • Basic experience with Canva, video editing, or content creation
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
  • Creative, proactive, and eager to learn in a professional environment

Responsibilities

  • Create and schedule content for Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn
  • Capture school life through photos, graphics, and short-form video
  • Design social media graphics using Canva or similar tools
  • Assist with content planning and campaign development
  • Track engagement and analyze performance metrics
  • Research trends in social media and digital marketing
  • Support occasional video and storytelling projects
