About The Position

Join Washington County's Community Corrections Center as a variable hour Community Correction Specialist I! Both bilingual and non-bilingual individuals are encouraged to apply. This position offers a flexible schedule and is a perfect way to gain experience working in the Community Corrections field! Individuals in this position can work up to 20 hours a week (must be at least 21 years of age). Washington County's Community Corrections Center is a 24-hour, 7-days per week minimum security facility. This 215-bed facility provides justice involved adults with a structured living environment, while focusing on accountability, employment, and skill-building. As a Community Corrections Specialist I, your responsibilities include monitoring the daily activities of justice involved adults (residents); maintaining security; coordinating the activities of residents; and making certain residents follow the facility regulations or procedures as well as interact with residents by providing information and assistance. This position works within a facility operating 24 hour per day, 7 days per week. This position is at-will and will accrue sick time; however, this position is not eligible for medical, dental, or vision benefits.

Requirements

  • Must pass a comprehensive background investigation.
  • Must be able to pass a post-offer psychological assessment prior to appointment.
  • Work varied shifts, including weekends, evenings, nights, and holidays.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possess a valid Oregon State Class C driver's license and acceptable driving record per Washington County policy.
  • Obtain and maintain first aid/AED/CPR certification.
  • Must be able to pass a post-offer physical abilities assessment prior to appointment.
  • One (1) year of college coursework. Education must include some coursework in correctional studies, the social and behavioral sciences, or a related field to be qualifying; OR One (1) year of experience in a correctional or residential treatment facility for juvenile or adult offenders.
