About The Position

Provide quality services designed to enhance each individual's skill development, health, freedom, and personal dignity. Support self-advocacy and self-determination of individuals by giving them the opportunity to make choices and encouraging empowerment whenever possible within the guidelines of the Individuals Service Plan and Behavior Support Plan (if applicable). Adhere to terms and conditions of employment as outlined by Employee Handbook and job description. Maintain each individuals rights by adhering to the policies and procedures set forth by the company and regulatory agencies. Oversee daily documentation related to the operation of the site (including but not limited to, water and refrigerator temperatures) is completed by direct care staff. Ensure the sites are maintain in a clean condition by supervising the performance of direct care staff. Accurately report monthly attendance and submit to appropriate parties promptly to ensure timely reporting for billing. Assist with the coordination of transportation to meet all the needs of individuals served. Ensure fire extinguishers are inspected monthly and provide necessary follow-up. Supervise the maintenance of equipment, supplies, vehicles (if applicable) and operating systems of the site to ensure the safety of each individual receiving services and direct care staff at the site. Ensure adequate and appropriate food items are available and which meet the individual's dietary needs. Coordinate required fire drills and quarterly disaster preparedness training drills. Assure the direct service personnel receive on-going training by scheduling staff meetings (at least monthly) and by offering periodic inservicing. Assure that each site has sufficient staff scheduled who have been trained/authorized in required duties (including medication administration, if applicable). As applicable, coordinate with nursing to ensure MARs, medication supervision and self-administration of medication are completed and documented accurately. As applicable, ensure medication changes are implemented by coordinating with nursing and pharmacy. Establish regular performance goals, tasks and assignments for direct care staff, following up to ensure satisfactory completion. Monitor individual funds, maintaining a complete and accurate accounting system of incoming funds and purchases, as outlined by organization policies and procedures. Coordinate with case manager and nursing for appointments (i.e. medical, vision, dental, neurological, etc) that are due to be scheduled, coordinate transportation needs, and accompany individuals on appointments as appropriate. Ensure staff follow the curriculum schedule for individuals and teach individuals, consistently following individuals daily living and active treatment programs as scheduled in the program books and identified in the Individual Service Plan. Assume responsibility for performance and growth of direct care staff by being available to supervise, giving regular performance feedback, and providing additional training in proper work practices individually and in group settings. Interview, hire, train, mentor, support and supervise direct care staff. Coordinate new employee orientation with Human Resources and verify that new employees have completed and/or submitted necessary paperwork as required. Submit accurate and timely payroll information. Manage employees to performance standards, coordinating performance goals, disciplinary action, performance plans, involuntary terminations, etc. with Human Resources. Monitor employee performance for adherence to established safety policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, infection control, body mechanics and ergonomics. Conduct annual performance evaluations for each employee. Communicate voluntary resignations to Human Resources within 48 hours of notification by employee. Carry pager or cell phone if/when assigned, participate in on-call rotation as required, and respond in a timely manner to all pages and calls. General work schedule will be Monday Friday. This may vary in order to meet the needs of individuals receiving services.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Minimum of one year of experience working directly with individuals with developmental disabilities.
Possess valid drivers license with acceptable driving record per company requirements.

Prefer previous DSP training.
Prefer previous management or supervisory experience.
Prefer additional experience beyond one year providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities.

Assure the highest standard of service by complying with state and federal regulations, by sustaining positive DHS survey outcomes in conjunction with the administrator and case manager.
Maintain working knowledge of current Federal and State regulations, HIPAA, OSHA, labor laws, as well as professional standards and make/assist in the development of and/or recommend policies and procedures.
Oversee compliance of these regulations and standards.
Complete DHS approved DSP training curriculum within 60 days of hire.
Complete Office of Inspector General (OIG) Investigative Skills training to become certified OIG investigator.
Complete OIG investigations as requested.
