About The Position

Join a mission-driven organization dedicated to improving oral health outcomes and expanding access to care for diverse populations. As a Community Dental Health Advocate (Part-Time), you will play a vital role in supporting LIBERTY Dental Plan members through education, outreach, and oral health screenings. This is an excellent opportunity for a licensed dental hygienist who is passionate about community engagement, health education, and being a trusted resource for families and members. This position blends outreach, advocacy, oral health expertise, and meaningful connections with community groups, schools, and healthcare partners. Must reside near Phoenix, Arizona (within 1-1.5 hour drive) for community outreach efforts.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years or Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene
  • Active dental hygiene license in good standing; must meet credentialing requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in dental healthcare, dental office management, and/or dental insurance
  • Advanced knowledge of dental terminology
  • Bilingual fluency (read, write, and speak) in a non‑English language
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate and build community partnerships
  • Project management capability
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience working with diverse communities
  • Familiarity with government structures, agencies, and policies related to oral health
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance (minimum liability coverage: $100,000)
  • Hybrid, must reside near Phoenix, Arizona (within 1-1.5 hour drive) for community outreach efforts.
  • Comfortable with extensive travel (50–85%) and varied environments (office, home, community sites)

Nice To Haves

  • Outreach experience with providers, members, or government-managed care programs
  • Experience with HEDIS measures (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct outreach to Liberty Dental Plan members and educate them on Dental Wellness Plan benefits and oral health best practices.
  • Perform oral health screenings at member events such as health fairs, community gatherings, and educational sessions.
  • Conduct screenings in day care centers, elementary schools, and middle schools, obtaining required parental/guardian consent.
  • Build strong relationships with community organizations, dental and medical providers, and local partners.
  • Work closely with community-based services to help members navigate their benefits and improve oral and overall health behaviors.
  • Collaborate with internal teams—including Leadership, Member Services, Provider Services, Customer Service, and Data Analytics—to enhance program effectiveness and communication.
  • Assist with developing and distributing program communications across multiple channels (social media, print, news outlets, etc.).
  • Maintain a high standard of privacy and adhere to all PHI regulations.
