About The Position

This role provides consultative and promotional support to local communities in planning and implementing development programs. The position works with local officials, community leaders, and agencies to mobilize resources, support grant activities, and strengthen economic and community initiatives. Work is performed under general supervision and evaluated through reports, meetings, and program outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in sociology, psychology, political science, business administration, public administration, or related field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience related to the specific program assignment (OR) an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support local officials and community leaders in developing and implementing community and economic development programs.
  • Share information about state, federal, and local programs to encourage community participation.
  • Assist with preparing, reviewing, and monitoring grant applications and funded projects.
  • Provide guidance to Community Action Agencies on policies, board development, and staff training.
  • Review community development project proposals and prepare summaries for supervisory approval.
  • Help develop employment programs for low‑income individuals through Community Action Programs.
  • Conduct outreach to local governments, industry representatives, and community organizations.
  • Gather community data to identify needs and support program design.
  • Promote and support Urban Information Center services for municipalities and counties.
  • Assist with planning and evaluating local highway safety programs.
  • Coordinate with state-level officials to analyze proposed and ongoing development initiatives.
