About The Position

Concerned about climate change? Want to apply your talents to the vitally important area of clean energy and do meaningful work that helps the community and the environment? Peninsula Clean Energy is a dynamic, not-for-profit governmental organization that seeks enthusiastic community members to help represent our agency at community events. This is a flexible, hourly, part-time opportunity to educate residents about Peninsula Clean Energy and how they can do their part to fight climate change. Ideal for students and community members interested in engaging with our community in a part-time, ad-hoc role. Availability for Earth Month community events on the weekends of April and early May is greatly appreciated.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with Peninsula Clean Energy and its residential offerings
  • Valid California drivers license
  • Interact enthusiastically with members of the public
  • Communicate complex information simply and effectively
  • Learn and communicate new organizational updates quickly
  • Demonstrate patience, tact and courtesy at all times
  • Ability to carry 30 pounds, including transporting and carrying large bulky items such as a 10’ canopy or 10’ folding table

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with electric vehicles and residential building electrification is a plus
  • Experience with community outreach, education, or customer relations is a plus
  • Ability to speak Spanish, Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese), or Tagalog are desired

Responsibilities

  • Travel to and represent Peninsula Clean Energy to members of the public at community events with warmth, enthusiasm, and professionalism
  • Effectively explain Peninsula Clean Energy, our benefits, and offerings to customers in simple and understandable language in English (Spanish, Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese), or Tagalog is extremely helpful and desired)
  • Respond to customer questions clearly and accurately
  • Learn about and stay up to date on Peninsula Clean Energy customer offerings by regularly reviewing the organizational website and materials
  • Inspire residents to participate in Peninsula Clean Energy programs to take action on climate change
  • Assist Peninsula Clean Energy staff with set up, staffing, and take down at ribbon cutting and other organizational events
  • Transport, set up and take down elements of the Peninsula Clean Energy booth or materials at community events. That often includes carrying and setting up a 10’ canopy, 10’ folding table, and large boxes of materials.
  • Maintain excellent communication with Peninsula Clean Energy colleagues
  • Be a team player who pitches in to make events a success.
