About The Position

Responsible for establishing and/or maintaining community health and outreach partnerships, community events, and programs and activities. Works collaboratively with area partners, businesses and community groups to establish health education programs, presentations and events. Will create and present curriculum, course materials, speaker presentations, multimedia health messaging and oversee grant management and reporting.

Requirements

  • BS/ BA in a healthcare field.
  • Experience with community health education required.
  • Experience working with community partnerships.
  • Knowledge & experience with public speaking and various teaching methods.
  • Computer skills & software knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
  • Ability to teach and assist community with age-specific, cultural, physical, and psychosocial well-being.
  • Knowledge of teaching methods, including adult learning modalities.

Nice To Haves

  • BS/BA in health education.
  • Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), RN, LPN or other healthcare professional education strongly preferred.
  • Experience &/or training with grant & program development strongly desired.
  • English/Spanish bilingual (reading, writing and speaking) helpful.
  • Experience creating presentations and course curriculum preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Will teach community members on a variety of health topics.
  • Communicate effectively with community members, class/event participants and fellow staff members.
  • Assists with the planning of community events.
  • Oversees community class creation, scheduling, enrollment, marketing, course materials, and more.
  • Oversees grant management, tracking and reporting.
  • Serves as the chair of Safe Communities, a subcommittee of Healthy Communities Coalition.
  • Stays up to date on local and national health issues and continuing education, to create up-to-date classes and health messaging for the community.
  • Supports various Community Health & Outreach projects, grants, events, classes, and more as needed.
  • The employee supports the hospital mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures.
  • Participates in required education for DNV programs as applicable to position. (reference program education curriculum).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
