About The Position
The Community Initiatives Coordinator supports Methodist Healthcare Ministries’ (MHM) evolving community-based initiatives, beginning with a focus on digital equity and expanding in future years to address other critical issues that impact the health and well-being of communities across the MHM service region.This position coordinates internal staff, consultants, external stakeholders, and community partners to develop and implement collaborative strategies and initiatives that align with MHM’s mission of “Serving Humanity to Honor God.” The Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring that the voices and needs of underserved and rural populations are reflected in public policies, funding priorities, and community-based interventions. The role also helps advance cross-sector learning, alignment, and capacity building among community and institutional partners.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Public Policy, Sociology, Community Development, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- Three (3) years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas: digital equity, rural health, economic mobility, community development, food security, project management, or public-private partnerships required.
- Proven experience managing partnerships and coordinating multi-stakeholder projects required.
- Proven experience planning programs/projects from start to completion, including task delegation, deadlines, and milestones.
- Experience with convening, stakeholder engagement, and group facilitation, particularly with underserved groups.
- Demonstrated ability to bring clarity to ambiguous work assignments.
- Strong organizational, leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a self-starter.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluent in English required
- Must be able to drive and have access to a vehicle; maintain valid driver’s license and auto liability insurance.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working with community-based organizations, foundations, or government agencies preferred.
- Basic understanding of public health, digital equity, human services, and disparities affecting Texas communities.
- Experience with process development, program evaluation, and measurement (e.g., logic models, theory of change, design thinking).
- Experience working with qualitative and quantitative data.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate implementation of MHM-supported initiatives, initially focused on digital equity and evolving to future priorities.
- Facilitate collaboration among internal teams, consultants, nonprofit partners, and public/private sector stakeholders.
- Identify, cultivate, and maintain strong communication and relationships with partners; ensure timely and consistent engagement.
- Serve as a key point of contact and subject resource for digital equity and other initiatives; lead working groups, present to stakeholders, and coordinate training as needed.
- Support knowledge sharing and alignment of best practices across grantees and community collaborators.
- Develop and manage project scopes and schedules, ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met.
- Assist partners with development, evaluation, and revision of project deliverables and outcomes.
- Compile and analyze information to support assessment, evaluation, and reporting of program progress.
- Produce statistical and program reports for leadership, including board and committee use.
- Support decision-making regarding community investments; recommend strategically aligned grantmaking opportunities.
- Plan and support convenings, capacity-building sessions, and technical-assistance opportunities.
- Represent MHM at community meetings and events as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
