About The Position

The Activities Assistant- Part -time- supports the planning and delivery of recreational, social, and therapeutic activities for residents in a skilled nursing facility. This role helps enhance residents’ quality of life by encouraging participation, promoting socialization, and supporting emotional and cognitive well-being.

Requirements

• High School degree required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
• One year experience in a social or recreational program in a licensed health care setting preferred.

Nice To Haves

• Background in journalism, creative writing, music, art, drama, and dance therapy preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, organizing, and leading individual and group activities (e.g., games, arts & crafts, music, exercise, social events)
• Encourage resident participation and adapt activities to meet varying physical, cognitive, and emotional needs
• Provide one-on-one activities for residents who are unable to participate in group programs
• Escort residents to and from activity programs as needed
• Assist with special events, holiday celebrations, and community or family programs
• Help maintain activity calendars, attendance records, and documentation as required
• Set up, clean up, and organize activity spaces and supplies
• Observe and report resident responses or concerns to the Activities Director or nursing staff
• Follow all facility policies, safety procedures, infection control guidelines, and resident rights regulations
