About The Position

Child and Family Guidance Center is recruiting for a provides Yes Waiver Community Living Support Specialist- Qualified Mental Health Professional. The CLS provides curriculum-based skills training and evidence-based practices to participants working on a wide array of needs including but not limited to independent living skills, anger management, socialization, relationship-building skills, coping skills, family /parent skills and positive communication skills. A CLS may reinforce skills or lessons taught in school, therapy, or other approved settings. All services are provided in a trauma informed/ person-driven format. The position requires use of initiative and independent judgment in order to provide interventions in the community, home, and school to YES Waiver participants. They are responsible for attending child and family team meetings monthly along with weekly services and must be effective at troubleshooting and organizing support, interventions, and services to achieve outcomes. The CLS must have the ability to work independently and collaboratively as needed and have effective communication with supervisory staff when necessary.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and experience of case management, skills training, and symptom management services to individuals with mental illness within the YES Waiver Program.
  • Ability to assess individual needs, coordinate services, and communicate effectively with staff and clients alike.
  • Knowledge of the social services system and the ability to connect individuals and their families with appropriate services dependent on specific needs.
  • Ability to write clearly and professionally as both an outward and inward facing employee.
  • Ability to think clearly and logically in order to deal with potentially dangerous and/or emotional situations.
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work or a related field.
  • Must have a valid driver license and valid vehicle insurance.
  • Must be able to frequently (up to 90% of the time) sit, stand, walk, and climb stairs (if an elevator is unavailable).
  • Must be able to frequently (up to 90% of the time) talk, listen and speak clearly in person and via telephone.
  • Must be able to push, pull, lift and/or carry up to 25 lbs.
  • 70-75% of work travel within the DFW (Kaufman, Rockwall, Navarro, Ellis and Dallas counties)

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of related experience and/or mental health training are preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals with mental illness and/or addiction issues is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct services to children and adolescents on a caseload using time management and organizational skills for scheduling and maintenance of caseload.
  • Provide Psychiatric Rehabilitative Services (individual &/or groups) per the Texas Administrative Code, Skills Training and Development and Community Living Supports
  • Crisis Intervention and problem-solving assistance to associated staff as well as YES Waiver participants
  • Timely and thorough documentation per TAC requirements
  • Implementation of trauma informed care practices.

  • Other duties as assigned
