About The Position

Performs paraprofessional work involving the performance of non-emergency law enforcement duties, including but not limited to responding to non-violent criminal incidents, accidents, and police service calls, and preparing related reports. Work is performed under general supervision. Performance is reviewed through reports submitted, meetings, and results obtained.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate and six (6) months to one (1) year of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License required.
  • Must pass background check which includes polygraph.
  • Must successfully complete the nineteen (19) week academy training and fifteen (15) week field training program.
  • Must pass writing skills test.
  • CSO I will be in a probationary status for a period of one (1) year.
  • Be at least 19 years of age to attend the academy.
  • Be a citizen of the United States by application date.
  • Successfully complete 19-week academy training and 15-week field training.
  • Training academy is full-time days, fully paid.
  • Selected candidates serve a 12-month probationary period.
  • Pass assessment tests, medical and psychological examinations and a thorough background check which involves two polygraph examinations.
  • Be of good moral character: no felony convictions (ever) or misdemeanor convictions (within five years of the date of application) involving moral character, perjury, or false statements.
  • Be able to meet very restrictive drug standard.
  • Must have possessed a valid driver's license for at least one year prior to the date of application and continuing to the date of employment.
  • The hiring process for this position includes an English Language Written Exam and a Writing Sample.
  • VALID DRIVER LICENSE FROM ANY STATE MUST BE PRESENTED WITH ONLINE APPLICATION.
  • MUST OBTAIN FLORIDA DRIVER LICENSE WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE.
  • BY THE EMPLOYMENT DATE, THE APPLICANT MUST RESIDE WITHIN A THIRTY-FIVE (35) MILE RADIUS OF THE INTERSECTION OF CENTRAL BOULEVARD AND ORANGE AVENUE.
