About The Position

The Housing Supportive Services (HSSP) Community Worker is a direct service provider to Intensive Services HSSP adult client and their families, functions according to the Intensive Services process, and participates on the clients’ multi-disciplinary team. The Community Worker operates from a strengths-based, client-centered, team-driven, community-based perspective. The Community Worker will practice solution-focused problem solving. The Community Worker provides outreach, support, advocacy, system orientation, mentoring, and other supportive services to clients. The Community Worker assists in the provision of services to clients by providing linkage and rehabilitation. The Community Worker must be able to work from a strength-based perspective with clients. This position requires the ability to demonstrate empathy and understanding when working with clients. The Community Worker must be able to work independently and utilize organization and time management skills to meet the requirements of the position. This position requires knowledge and understanding of the health, mental health, or social services programs to which the position is assigned to and the problems of the community group being served.

Requirements

  • Less than a college degree and 1 year of experience providing community linkage and peer support. (Volunteer or paid experience can count for this requirement).
  • Valid California driver’s license
  • current automobile insurance
  • have and maintain a clean driving record acceptable to the organization’s insurance company
  • have immediate access to his or her vehicle during work hours

Nice To Haves

  • Lived experience of being diagnosed with a mental illness or having a family member diagnosed with a mental illness.
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred (verbal only).
