About The Position

Enbridge Gas Ohio is looking for Gas Operations Compressor Operators. What you will do: Performs skilled work related to the operation and maintenance of compressor stations. May be responsible for compressor station operations including the proper handling of valves governing the flow of gas. Will be assigned individual tasks or will work as part of a crew. Works under the directions of higher classifications and/or the supervision of a supervisor. Typical Duties: Operates the compressor station. Starts and stops compressor engines as required. Ensures that compressor units and associated equipment are operated safely and properly. Monitors and records operation data including pressures, temperatures, speeds, flow rates, lubricant and coolant levels, etc. Changes compressor loading according to loading diagrams and operating schedules. Performs maintenance on compressors including checking the general condition of engines and compressor valves, maintaining air compressor and batteries, and changing separator filters. Changes compressor valves, spark plugs, fuel valves, magnetos, and other engine-compressor parts. Makes emergency repairs. Recognizes unusual noises or other abnormal operating conditions and takes corrective action to minimize the risk of failure. Operates the valves that control the flow of gas in and out of the compressor station. Must be able to ensure the proper handling of valves to avoid over pressuring of station piping. Learns to and makes major repairs and overhauls on equipment, maintains and adjusts instrumentation and makes adjustments to the compressor units. Performs fitting and maintenance work on metering and regulating equipment, associated lines, and station piping. Installs, removes, repairs, adjusts, inspects, tests and calibrates measuring and regulating equipment. Lubricates, repairs and rebuilds valves and valve operators. Learns to inspect, fire extinguishers and fire-fighting equipment including emergency air packs and other life-saving gear. Learns to control pressure in conjunction with the shutdown, tie-in and bypass of gas piping systems. Prepares and maintains necessary paperwork and or computer-generated forms in the performance of assigned job duties. Assists higher classifications in the performance of their duties and performs any other duties as assigned within the Compressor Operator "B" classification and lower classifications. Who you are: Qualifications: 1. Must have demonstrated ability in lower classifications. 2. Must have demonstrated the ability to operate the necessary vehicles, tools, and equipment utilized by lower classifications and have a working knowledge of standard fittings and tools. 3. Must be willing to work shifts and overtime and have a good work and attendance record. 4. Must have a valid vehicle operator's license. Employees may be considered for promotion to Compressor Operator "A" after they have demonstrated the ability to perform all the functions of Compressor Operator "B" and been recommended by management. Working Conditions •Work is primarily performed outside in all types of weather conditions. Some office work is required.
