We serve an area totaling 710 square miles, with over 1,190 schools and educational centers, and we employ over 74,000 individuals, making us one of the largest employers in our city.   A Compressor and Pneumatic Tool Operator operates a pneumatic compressor, concrete saw, concrete core drilling machine, and a variety of pneumatic and demolition tools.

Requirements

  • EDUCATION: Graduation from high school or evidence of equivalent educational proficiency.
  • EXPERIENCE: Six months of experience operating compressors and pneumatic tools.
  • SPECIAL: A valid driver’s license to legally operate a motor vehicle in the State of California and use of a motor vehicle.
  • SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:-Ability to push, pull, and safely lift and carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds-Ability to stand, walk, bend, crawl, climb, reach overhead, crouch, kneel and balance-Ability to work safely in confined spaces-Ability to work safely at heights, including the use of ladders, scaffolding and other related equipment

  • The ideal Compressor and Pneumatic Tool Operator candidate will possess a strong understanding of the job-related knowledge related to:-Operation and maintenance of air compressors-Methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the pneumatic tool trade-Safety regulations and practices of the pneumatic tool trade

  • Set-up and adjust compressors, pneumatic equipment, and tools

Responsibilities

  • Operates an air compressor and a variety of hand and pneumatic tools, including a pavement breaker, jackhammer, spade, and tamper to break up concrete, asphalt, and soil.
  • Services a compressor and concrete saw by fueling, changing oil, and checking tires. Adjusts and makes minor repairs to pneumatic equipment and tools.
  • Performs emergency repairs to pneumatic line connections.
  • Drives a compressor truck or a truck with a trailer mounted compressor.
  • Operates a pneumatic sump pump to remove water from school property.
  • Performs manual work in preparing for and cleaning up after operation of pneumatic tools.
  • Operates concrete saws and concrete core drilling machines.
  • Documents job progress, comments, conditions, and related information.
