About The Position

The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The New York City Police Department strives to foster a safe and fair city through the strategic deployment of resources, focusing on both crime prevention and addressing quality-of-life concerns while building lasting community relationships. The Strategic Technology Division is responsible for developing and coordinating deployment of emerging technology applications, strategic IT infrastructure, and enterprise platforms. The Strategic Technology Division houses the Information Security Section for NYPD. The selected candidate will perform the following duties which include, but are not limited to: - Experience in HTML5, CSS and content center software to make updates to NYPD pages on NYC.gov. - Basic understanding of application development processes, software application development languages and frameworks such C#, SQL, ASP.NET, .NET Framework, SharePoint, and Nintex. - Ability to support existing applications developed on Microsoft Technologies, SharePoint, and Nintex. - Monitor incidents related to applications on the Enterprise Ticketing Software (Service Now) and act as Level 2 support. - Participate in Application development projects as a Developer and interact with Project Managers, Senior Developers/Architects, Business analysts, and Quality Assurance Analysts. - Participate in team meetings and provide updates to team leaders regarding the status of assigned tasks

Requirements

  • (1) A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by twenty-four (24) semester credits in computer science or a related computer field; or (2) A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent plus (3) years of satisfactory full-time computer programming experience; or (3) A satisfactory combination of education and experience that is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. College education may be substituted for up to one year of the experience required in "2" above on the basis that sixty (60) semester credits from an accredited college is equated to one year of experience. In addition, twenty-four (24) undergraduate and/or graduate semester credits from an accredited college or university in computer science or a related computer field, or a certificate of at least 625 hours in computer programming from an accredited technical school (post high school), may be substituted for one year of experience. However, all candidates who attempt to qualify under option "3" must have at least a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and at least (1) year of satisfactory full-time computer programming experience.
