This opening is at the Johnson Controls, Inc. manufacturing and engineering design center located in Waynesboro, PA. How you will do it: The successful candidate will provide engineering assistance to support the design and manufacture of pressure vessels, screw compressors, airside and industrial refrigeration packaged equipment. Work may include 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD), product data management, software application programing, engineering analysis, and refrigeration and piping analysis. The candidate may also explore the capabilities of existing software packages to help promote metadata standardization and software deployment standardization. In addition to supporting local needs, interns participate in activities across the broader Johnson Controls network for skills training and compete in presentation events. Duration: This will be a full-time undergraduate summer 2026 internship. Prior interns are encouraged to apply to full-time positions as their graduation date approaches, and senior interns may receive post-graduation, full-time employment offer letters following exemplary summer internship. What we look for: Currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at an ABET accredited U.S. college or university Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Mechanical Engineering. Currently a junior or senior graduating in Dec 2026 or later Must have CAD experience with 2D and 3D modeling using Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, Fusion 360 or similar. Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) systems such as Autodesk Vault or SolidWorks PDM is a plus but not required. Those with understanding of writing macros, programming, and scripting are strongly considered. Use of C#, C++, Python, VB, SQL queries, PowerShell is common within existing workflows. Desire to focus on resolving CAD technical challenges including advanced modeling, design accelerators, vaulting, programing, automation and artificial intelligent application challenges. US Citizen Local candidates preferred; no relocation provided Work Location & Housing: Housing assistance is not provided as part of the JCI internship program. Waynesboro, PA is conveniently accessible from nearby cities such as Hagerstown, MD and Chambersburg, PA. A few former interns have also utilized Shippensburg University - Summer Intern Housing. We understand the preference to have a more flexible working environment working either remote or on site. Summer interns typically work 3 to 5 days onsite, per week, as the opportunity for hands-on training and interfacing with colleagues is needed in this role. Requirements
