About The Position

Minneapolis College, a vibrant and inclusive two-year community college in Minnesota, is accepting applications for an Unlimited, Full-Time Computer Systems Networking Instructor position within the School of Information Technology starting Fall 2026. Join a dedicated, student-centered team of five full-time and numerous part-time faculty in the School of Information Technology who are committed to providing a learning environment focused on inclusion, community, excellence, and integrity. Position Start Date: Fall Semester 2026 (August 10, 2026)

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a computer or information technology field
  • Four full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in networking, network administration, cybersecurity, or forensics.
  • One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
  • Current and former employees must be in good standings with Minneapolis College to be considered for the position.
  • Applicants must include transcripts to be considered.
  • Copies of transcripts are acceptable for the screening process; the successful candidate will need to provide official transcripts at the time of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Cyber Security, or comparable computer-related field.
  • Certifications in A+, Network+, Security+, MCP , CASP , CISSP.
  • Teaching knowledge and work experience with: Computer systems, networking, systems administration (Windows and/or Linus), storage, and/or IT infrastructure planning and deployment.
  • Installation, configuration and management of server systems, storage, and network equipment, such as Cisco switches, routers, firewalls, IDPS, and wireless networking technologies.
  • Information security, virtualization technologies, and cloud services.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and teach a full-time load of courses, such as Microsoft, or Linux, or Cisco Administration, Computer Forensics, Internet Security, or other Computer Support and/or Network Administration or Computer Forensics courses.
  • Teach courses in a variety of modalities, including face-to-face, online and/or blended/hybrid using the course learning management system (Brightspace D2L).
  • Teach daytime and evening to meet the needs of a diverse population.
  • Interact with students outside the classroom through office hours and involvement in student organizations such as Computer and Cyber student clubs and various cyber security competitions.
  • Engage with colleagues through participation in monthly faculty and School meetings, outreach programs, student recruiting, and/or student open houses.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum matters and departmental assessment.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current in field knowledge and pedagogies that expand breadth and depth of understanding in the discipline.
  • Support department’s decision-making with respect to budgeting and scheduling.
