About The Position

STREET/CONCRETE MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT Hourly Rate: $24.23-27.23 per hour, depending on experience Hours of Work: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 6:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Limited Hour (no more than 27 hours per week) This position is a non-benefited, temporary position that will be open until filled. Incumbents are non-benefited, temporary laborers performing routine maintenance work for the City. Work direction is provided by assigned supervisor or designee. Requirements

  • Applicants must have a valid Washington State Driver's License and must be able to verify employment eligibility at time of hire
  • must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • must successfully pass the City's pre-employment substance abuse screening, driving record check, and background check
  • must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Previous work experience performing duties identified below is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cement and asphalt road maintenance.
  • Perform sidewalk and curb repairs.
  • Assist in hot patching and overlaying roads.
  • Operate vehicles and equipment to haul materials and account for materials used in accordance with regulations and procedures.
  • Perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time and during inclement & non-inclement weather conditions
  • Organize traffic control at work areas by setting up cones, signs, flagging, etc.
  • Respond to complaints concerning sidewalks, accidents, debris and traffic control.
  • Clean up assigned equipment and perform light grease maintenance as required.
  • Assist in back filling sidewalks with 5/8's crushed rock and topsoil.
  • Repair handrails as needed.
  • Apply procedures and practices necessary to complete tasks
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public
  • Attend weekly and monthly safety meetings and perform monthly safety checks.
  • Complete timesheet and work orders in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Actively support the vision, mission, values and behavior statements of the department and the City.
