About The Position

Configuration Management Engineer The Opportunity: Are you looking for an opportunity to combine your engineering expertise with configuration management and data management to support critical national security missions? At Booz Allen, you will apply both technical rigor and systems thinking to ensure engineering data, technical baselines, and configuration documentation remain accurate, controlled, and accessible across complex defense programs. On our team, you will support the U.S. Navy working alongside Booz Allen engineers, government personnel, and mission partners. This role operates within a hands-on engineering environment, working directly with mechanical engineers, designers, and manufacturing teams to maintain the integrity of engineering drawings, models, and technical baselines throughout the system lifecycle. You will administer configuration management (CM) activities across engineering documentation, components, assemblies, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) while maintaining the program’s technical baseline and configuration control processes. The position blends mechanical design and configuration management, supporting CAD model governance, drawing control, and digital engineering artifacts across the program’s Product Data Management (PDM) environment. In this role, you will manage engineering change processes such as ECR, ECO, or ECN, maintain PDM or Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems, and ensure document control, version control, and traceability across the engineering lifecycle. You will also support mechanical engineering activities by developing and maintaining CAD models, technical drawings, and digital design artifacts using industry-standard tools. You will support the program’s digital engineering and digital thread environment, ensuring configuration-controlled engineering data, models, drawings, and technical documentation remain synchronized across the product lifecycle. Your work will ensure disciplined configuration control, digital engineering data management, and technical baseline integrity, enabling reliable system development and delivery of mission capabilities to the warfighter. You Have: 7+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, mechanical design, or hardware engineering supporting development or sustainment of complex systems 5+ years of experience performing CM activities supporting engineering programs, including configuration identification, configuration control, configuration status accounting, and configuration verification Experience managing engineering change requests (ECR), engineering change orders (ECO), or engineering change notices (ECN) within a structured change control process Experience maintaining technical baselines, engineering documentation repositories, and configuration-controlled artifacts Experience operating PDM or PLM systems, engineering documentation vaults, or digital engineering repositories, and preparing and maintaining BOMs, parts lists, engineering drawings, assembly documentation, and technical reports Experience creating 2D and 3D mechanical models and technical drawings using CAD tools, including AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or PTC Creo, and supporting data management and technical data governance, including data integrity, storage, access control, and regulatory compliance Knowledge of DoD configuration management standards, technical data management practices, and engineering documentation control Ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, integration, and program management teams to maintain configuration discipline across the development lifecycle Secret clearance Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field, such as Mechanical Engineering Nice If You Have: Experience supporting DoD weapons systems, energetics programs, or defense hardware development Experience supporting configuration audits, configuration status accounting, and configuration verification activities Experience supporting engineering design reviews and maintaining the configuration baseline across reviews Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA), MATLAB, Abaqus, or engineering simulation tools Experience with manufacturing processes, including machining, fabrication, mechanical assembly, and producibility considerations Experience supporting digital engineering or model-based engineering environments Knowledge of industry standards, including ASME Y14 drafting standards, IPC standards, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
