This role sits at the center of the firm's ethics, intake, and risk management process and directly supports attorneys as they evaluate new matters, lateral hires, and client relationships. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, confident working with complex entity structures, and comfortable making judgment calls rooted in professional responsibility standards. This is a high-trust position suited for someone who values accuracy, discretion, and consistency in a fast-paced law firm environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of conflicts experience within a mid- to large-sized law firm
  • Hands-on experience conducting conflicts checks, corporate research, or legal intake reviews
  • Working knowledge of legal ethics rules and professional responsibility standards
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent law firm experience demonstrating relevant expertise
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills suitable for attorney-facing work
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities accurately
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship now or in the future)
  • Ability to work onsite or in a hybrid capacity in Detroit, MI

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using Intapp Open or similar conflicts management platforms
  • Prior drafting of engagement letters, conflict waivers, or ethical screen documentation
  • Experience supporting lateral attorney conflict clearance
  • Exposure to large-scale client/matter data cleanup initiatives
  • Strong analytical writing skills with the ability to clearly present findings

Responsibilities

  • Developing targeted search strategies and conducting conflicts checks using the firms' conflicts database (Intapp or similar systems)
  • Reviewing, analyzing, and summarizing search results for attorneys and Conflicts Counsel, highlighting potential risks and escalation items
  • Performing in-depth corporate research to identify parent entities, affiliates, subsidiaries, and related parties
  • Drafting engagement letters, conflict waivers, and ethical screen memorandums for attorney and counsel review
  • Collaborating closely with Conflicts Counsel, Conflicts Attorneys, General Counsel, and intake teams to support conflict resolution
  • Maintaining and reconciling client and matter records to ensure data accuracy within the conflicts system
  • Providing responsive, professional support to attorneys, legal assistants, and administrative teams
  • Assisting with urgent or time-sensitive conflicts requests, including occasional after-hours support
