About The Position

Join our team as a Part Time Conservation and Parks Technician at Woodland Mound. The Conservation & Parks Technician plays a vital role in maintaining and enhancing the natural resources and recreational facilities. Great Parks, our team members work together to preserve and protect natural resources and to provide outdoor recreation and education in order to enhance the quality of life for present and future generations. The technician will work closely with park management to develop and execute maintenance plans that promote sustainability and environmental stewardship. Additionally, this role involves educating visitors about conservation efforts and the importance of preserving natural habitats. Ultimately, the technician's efforts contribute to the overall mission of fostering a healthy environment and enriching community engagement with nature. This part time position will work three and a half days per week from 6.30 am - 2.30 pm and 6:30am-11:00am on the half day.

Requirements

  • An appropriate combination of education, training, course work and experience may qualify an applicant to demonstrate required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of an acceptable qualification is:
  • High School degree or GED and some prior experience or education in parks & recreation, natural resources, facility management, horticulture, grounds maintenance, or related field.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to document identity and employment eligibility within three (3) days of original appointment as a condition of employment in compliance with Immigration Reform and Control Act requirements.
  • State Motor Vehicle Operator’s License that meets GPHC current carrier guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular inspections of park facilities and natural areas to assess conditions and identify maintenance needs.
  • Assist in the implementation of conservation projects, including habitat restoration and invasive species management.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as landscaping, trail upkeep, and facility repairs.
  • Engage with park visitors to provide information about conservation initiatives and promote responsible use of park resources.
  • Collaborate with team members and volunteers to organize community events focused on environmental education and stewardship.
  • Routine janitorial work.
