This position will work in our new Amazonian Rainforest at Hilbert Conservatory with primates, birds, herpetofauna, fish, and small mammals. Ideal candidates are committed to advancing the Indianapolis Zoo's mission to protect nature and inspire people to care for our world. Having a professional attitude and appearance to visitors, volunteers, and co-workers is vital to the position as well as being a team-oriented individual that is temperamentally suited to work with the public and animals. Prior experience in the animal care profession, preferably a zoological setting, is required. Prior experience working with primates, birds, herpetofauna, fish, and/or ambassador animals is highly desired. Prior experience with problem solving and animal training is preferred. This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position that requires availability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. Strong observational and communication skills (both verbal and written), as well as a team-oriented attitude are essential.
