Position is located in the Smithfield Construction Office. This is an Engineering Technician Ill level that will serve as the lead project inspector and will support higher level engineers in the administration of medium to large highway construction projects. Monitors daily progress of projects and resolves constructability issues to maintain project schedules. Direct and schedule the work of technicians in staking out and inspecting every phase of a construction project to ensure it is built according to plans and specifications in a timely and cost-effective manner. Manages all aspects of assigned construction projects with limited supervision from higher level engineers. May supervise and train multiple technicians, including Department employees and contract construction inspectors. Employee must be able to obtain and maintain certifications required to perform material sampling and testing related to this position. May be required to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as necessary.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in an applicable area of Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or a related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of progressive technician level experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
