About The Position

We specialize in providing full-service construction management, CE&I and design services for a full spectrum of industries encompassing construction projects for heavy highway roadway, bridge, railroad, tunnel, airport, seaport and marine, commercial and institutional building facilities, ITS, mechanical, electrical, environmental, water, sewer, utility, as well as design-build services for both new infrastructure and renovation projects. M&J is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Construction Inspector for to join our team to provide critical quality assurance oversight to ensure construction projects are completed in accordance with contract requirements, plans, and specifications. This role operates under the general supervision of the Senior Project Engineer and Project Administrator and serves as a key liaison between contractors, project teams, and government stakeholders. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management and one (2) years of experience in transportation construction engineering or transportation engineering.
  • Candidate must possess and retain a valid NICET TCI Level II.
  • ACI Certification
  • NETTCP Concrete
  • NETTCP HMA Paving
  • NETTCP Soils and Aggregate
  • ATSSA Traffic Control Technician
  • OSHA 10 Hours certification is required. OSHA 30 a plus
  • Must be able to read and understand complex construction plans, and specifications.
  • Must be able to write detailed daily inspection reports and perform complex quantity and engineering computations.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Candidate shall be required to possess and retain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and auto insurance.
  • Candidate must have reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with contract documents, plans, specifications, and approved submittals
  • Maintain accurate field and office records, including daily reports, field measurements
  • Perform quantity computations and verify work completed for payment eligibility
  • Observe contractor operations and document field conditions, progress, and any non-conforming work
  • Monitor contractor quality control processes and verify adherence to approved quality control plans
  • Prepare detailed reports on project progress, work quality, and quantities eligible for payment
  • Ensure project documentation complies with current agency, client, and regulatory standards
  • Coordinate and/or perform inspections, testing, and surveying activities
  • Assist with project closeout activities with minimal supervision
  • Be available for Night Work
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • M&J Engineering is seeking experienced personnel for Construction Inspector positions. This position is a field related position with respect to Long Island municipal construction projects. Construction Inspector will inspect various aspects construction activities and perform to ensure compliance with the contract provisions. Responsibilities include inspection of daily construction work ensure compliance with contract plans and specifications, minimum testing of materials, review contractor submittals, requests for information and coordinate with the contractor, monitor maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT), prepare daily inspection reports, perform field measurements of pay items, provide computations for pay items, participate in meetings, preparing meeting minutes and follow up action items. And other responsibilities as warranted.
