About The Position

Colt Builders is seeking Construction Laborers for our federal project at Fort Irwin, CA. This is a Davis-Bacon prevailing wage position offering competitive compensation and the opportunity to work on a high-profile military installation. This position is covered by the Davis-Bacon Act (DBA). The DBA is a federal law that establishes prevailing wages for laborers and mechanics on covered contracts. The prevailing wages are set forth in the applicable Wage Determination. The Wage Determination for this project is CA20250017. The classification for your position under the DBA is LABO0783-003. The prevailing wage for this classification requires a basic hourly rate of $35.24 and fringe benefit of $20.09 for a total prevailing wage of $55.33. The total prevailing wage of $55.33/hour may be paid as a combination of hourly cash wages and bona fide fringe benefits in accordance with federal regulations.

Requirements

  • Ability to use basic hand and power tools.
  • Basic understanding of material types and sized (ie. 2x4, 2x6, sheathing)
  • Basic job safety knowledge
  • Desire to learn more skills and gain more on-site responsibilities.
  • Must have physical strength, hand-eye coordination, and endurance.
  • Laborers must also be able to concentrate on their tasks.
  • The ability to understand and communicate information is also essential.
  • Verification of authorization to work in the United States
  • Successful completion of required background checks
  • Receipt of authorization for access to Fort Irwin Military Base

Responsibilities

  • Follow all Colt and site-specific safety procedures at all times!
  • Assist carpenters and foreman on site with tasks as assigned, such as but not limited to: cleaning and preparing the job site, assisting material deliveries, use of lifts when necessary and capable.
  • Develop proficiencies in the use and care of circular saw and pneumatic nail guns and hand tools.
  • Perform basic punch work including installing hold-downs, hangars, and other misc. hardware.
  • Communicate with Carpenter, Foreman, Site Supervisor and Project Manager when necessary.
  • Increase job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities (safety seminars, toolbox talks, industry-related activities)
