About The Position

Hill International is seeking a Construction Manager - Rail in Houston, Texas Responsibilities Assist the Project Manager in all aspects of required field and office construction engineering work Prepare PM/CM plans to include change management plan invoicing procedures budget and schedule monitoring processes quality assurance plan safety oversight and project specific procedures including communication/coordination plans for the project Manage and administer construction contracts Manage preconstruction planning activities Manage CM and inspection staff Review and comment on the Contractor’s construction schedule(s). Provide design-support-during construction Ensure compliance and enforcement of FTA requirements Change order processing RFI (request for information) response Prepare monthly consultant invoices Conduct construction progress meetings Conduct project team meetings Coordinate agreements with and work of sub-consultants and services Maintain on-going contact with the Construction Project Manager

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of civil, electrical or transportation engineering
  • Minimum 10 years of construction experience working on active transit and rail projects
  • Experience managing CM and inspection staff
  • Asphalt experience, especially any mill and fill
  • Must be knowledgeable and experienced planning and managing work being performed on an active railway, familiar with FTA operating rules.
  • Previous work experience on an active rail line working around live trains and within short work windows
  • Must be knowledgeable with Microsoft Office Suite Word and Excel software programs
  • Must be knowledgeable and experienced with the principles of effective communication and supervision
  • Must have proven experience in a lead worker's roll in safety matters
  • Must be self-motivated and have strong interpersonal skills
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
