The Construction Manager will support and lead the execution of electric transmission and substation projects across a range of voltage classes and complexity levels. Depending on experience, this role may support senior personnel or independently manage construction activities, contractors, outages, and field execution for assigned projects. About the Role: The Construction Manager supports and leads the execution of electric transmission and substation projects across a range of voltage classes and complexity levels. Depending on experience, this role may support senior personnel or independently manage construction activities, contractors, outages, and field execution for assigned projects.

Requirements

  • This role is open to candidates with a broad range of experience levels, from developing field construction professionals to senior construction leaders. Final title and responsibility level will be aligned based on demonstrated experience, technical depth, leadership capability, and ability to independently manage project scope.
  • 5+ years of electric T&D construction experience, with increasing responsibility aligned to experience
  • Experience across transmission and/or substation projects, including outage coordination and contractor oversight
  • Strong understanding of field execution, safety programs, QA/QC, and constructability principles
  • Ability to operate independently on moderate to complex projects at higher experience levels
  • Experience working with utilities, EPCs, and multi-contractor environments
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all segments of the staff, clients and the company leadership team
  • Comfort with routinely shifting demands
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Suite Programs, encompassing Teams, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must have a valid driver license and acceptable driving record
  • Must currently be eligible to work in the United States of America
  • High School diploma or GED, required
  • Work is performed in both an office and a field setting
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer and standing
  • Ability to safely perform physical labor that includes climbing, stepping over, or around obstacles in outdoor environments
  • Frequent driving over long distances in varying weather conditions, including up to 10+ hours of driving per day when required
  • Must be able to meet the physical and cognitive requirements to operate a vehicle safely, including maintaining alertness and orientation while driving
  • Must be able to push, pull, lift and/or carry up to 15 pounds at a time
  • Ability to handle stressful situations in a calm and courteous manner at all times
  • Requires working under stressful conditions to meet deadlines and company needs

Responsibilities

  • Perform and/or lead constructability reviews, field assessments, and design conflict resolution
  • Coordinate construction sequencing, schedules, and outage planning with Engineering, Operations, ROW, Environmental, and PMO teams
  • Oversee contractor performance, safety compliance, QA/QC, and daily field reporting
  • Support or lead outage coordination, commissioning readiness, and as-built documentation
  • Provide input to cost, schedule, material planning, and productivity expectations
  • Interface directly with utility, EPC, and contractor stakeholders in planning and execution meetings
  • Identify and resolve field issues to protect project schedule, safety, and budget
  • Mentor and provide guidance to less-experienced construction management resources as applicable
  • Perform other duties as assigned
