Wage Range: $25.76 - $40.25 The range above allows our employees room for growth through annual merit and other pay increases based on performance. The target pay range for this position is typically within the first half of the range. Compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. The Consumer Loan Originator will also be responsible for educating our members on other products that will benefit their financial well-being. Obtain information concerning loan needs, earnings, and the individual's financial condition. Important to understand the additional consumer lending products that the Credit Union offers to protect its members. Meet and engage in person and phone with members to advise on the lending goals, questions, and requirements.

Requirements

  • Possess high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience - Two years Credit Union lending experience or equivalent.
  • Must be bondable.
  • Problem Solving - The individual identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner and gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
  • Interpersonal Skills - The individual maintains confidentiality, remains open to others' ideas, and exhibits willingness to try new things.
  • Oral Communication - The individual speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations. Individual maintains ongoing communication with Department Manager concerning activities of the department as well as needs or problems and keeps them informed of all pertinent problems, irregularities, new developments, changes, and other important information.
  • Written Communication - The individual edits work for spelling and grammar, presents numerical data effectively, and is able to read and interpret written information.
  • Planning/Organizing - The individual prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently, and develops realistic action plans.
  • Quality Control - The individual demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality.
  • Dependability - The individual is consistently at work and on time (except for those cases protected by law which are outlined in the Employee Guide), follows instructions, responds to Management direction, and solicits feedback to improve performance.
  • Observes Policies/Procedures - The individual sets an example in observing (following) Credit Union policy and applicable Standard Operating Procedures, as well as those in the Employee Guide.
  • Image - The individual must display a positive and professional image.

Responsibilities

  • Must accept loan applications, obtaining credit reports and any other information pertinent to the loan decision.
  • Need to communicate professionally and effectively to provide superior member service.
  • Must follow Credit Union procedures and policies as outlined in all loan department related procedures, as well as loan policy and Employee Guide, ensuring all dual control and internal controls are followed within their area or responsibility. Must be able to keep up with change.
  • Review loans within our loan origination system to ensure loans are made within current loan policy and verify that all information is accurate and complete.
  • Responsible for completion of documents and funding for Visa and personal loans.
  • Review credit application to determine other loans and services the member may qualify for.
  • Work recapture opportunities and outbound calling.
  • Must have a good understanding of GAP, MRC, and MemberGuard and be able to effectively communicate these products to our members.
  • Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as cross-selling skills.
  • Must be a self-starter, be self-motivated, and use initiative while effectively adapting to change.
  • Assist members with modifications, extensions, and/or loan changes.
  • Must be willing to work Saturdays.
  • Federal licensing through the NMLS Registry (including a background check) is required.
