About The Position

We currently have a career opportunity for a full-time Consumer Loan Underwriter II based out of our corporate office (Enterprise) in Appleton!  The Consumer Loan Underwriter II uses knowledge and independent judgment to determine loan risk eligibility in conjunction with regulations, guidelines, policies, and programs available.  The Consumer Loan Underwriter examines, evaluates, and authorizes approval or denial of borrower applications for credit through direct and indirect channels.  This role analyzes and underwrites all consumer loans, including non-mortgage secured, unsecured personal loans, credit cards, and indirect.  This role will also support the home equity loan process and underwriting when needed.

Requirements

  • (1) A high school education or GED (at least a two-year college degree is preferred), or (2) Completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school, or (3) Completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program
  • Three to five years of similar or related experience
  • Ability to read and understand credit reports
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Organizational and time management skills to balance workload and meet deadlines
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office suite products

Responsibilities

  • Promoting and upholding the Fox Purpose, Mission, Vision, and Values
  • Providing underwriting support for all loan interviewers, including but not limited to Consumer Centralized Lenders, Member Relationship Officers, and Branch Managers
  • Analyzing current financial position of members to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money, and making decisions to approve, disapprove, or forward the loan request to higher levels for a decision, contacting team members to gather additional information if necessary to make appropriate decisions
  • Approving loans within limits of authority, and establishing the terms and conditions of an approved loan
  • Analyzing member financial picture to determine and offer other products and services that may be beneficial to both them and the credit union
  • Consistently meeting established KPIs and supporting department goals
  • Reviewing negative credit histories and recommending solutions to improve the member’s financial situation
  • Applying technical job knowledge and skills accurately to make decisions in a timely manner in accordance with loan policy, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintaining acceptable delinquency and loss ratios as stipulated
  • Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations
  • Maintaining member confidence by keeping loan information confidential
