About The Position

Pew Research Center seeks a detail-oriented and audience-focused Content Strategy Analyst to dig deep into data in search of strategic insights about the Center’s work, readership and opportunities to help facts travel further. This role is equal parts analyst, strategist and communicator. The right candidate can go hands-on in data environments, surface trends and understand the needs of Center stakeholders, communicating findings to them with clarity and actionable suggestions. This is a new role to join a small and growing team of data-driven communicators. This role will support the development, implementation and evaluation of content strategies that ensure the Center’s work is accessible, engaging and aligned with audience needs. The analyst will work closely with communications colleagues and researchers to analyze content performance, study trends of the broader publishing ecosystem and translate those into insights, content strategy best practices and recommendations across digital platforms. This is a term-limited, grant-funded position expected to extend three years.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, digital media or a related field.
  • 3–10 years of experience in data-driven audience strategy, digital communications or related fields. Candidates with 3-5 years of experience will be considered at the Associate Content Strategy Analyst position.
  • Strong hands-on data skills. Fluency in Excel is a must, as is experience in data front-end tools like Tableau, Looker Studio, PowerBI or similar.
  • Experience with content performance tools is a plus (e.g., Parse.ly, Google Analytics, Chartbeat or similar).
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex datasets to insights and recommendations.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with a focus on clarity, accessibility, and audience engagement.
  • History of being a self-starter in growing operations where processes are being invented as the team grows.
  • Familiarity with SEO principles and digital publishing workflows.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work across teams with diverse perspectives.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex information into clear, compelling content.
  • Familiarity with natural language processing, computational text analysis via Python, Regex, or other tools.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Interest in social science research.
  • Passion for mission-driven or research-focused organizations are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze content performance using tools like Parse.ly, WordPress, HootSuite, Talkwalker, Tableau, Looker Studio and internal metrics dashboards to inform strategy and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with communications team members and support research teams to apply content strategy guidance throughout the publication process.
  • Provide recommendations on content structure, language and framing.
  • Support A/B testing, SEO optimization, and readability improvements across digital content, including video.
  • Contribute to the development of content strategy reports and team-specific recommendations, helping teams understand how their work fits into broader communications goals.
  • Stay current on content strategy trends and tools and help train colleagues on best practices and data analysis skills.
  • Participate in cross-functional working groups and contribute to strategic planning for content innovation.
