About The Position

The Role: As a Continuous Improvement (CI) Engineer, you’ll play a key role in the development and deployment of cutting-edge automation strategies that transform how we deliver material and build vehicles. This role is ideal for a highly technical, hands-on innovator who thrives in ambiguity and is passionate about solving complex manufacturing and supply chain challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in technical field or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in Manufacturing or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement
  • Experience in technical project installation / integration
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work off-shifts and overtime as required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in controls engineering a plus
  • Experience in implementing automation projects (robotics, vision, autonomous material delivery, etc)
  • Experience working with cross functional groups (both internal and external)
  • Experience in safety processes (SFMEA, g-Risk, g-Comply, g-Plac, etc)
  • Experience in utilization of strategies and methodologies such as Red X, Opex, Lean Principles, Agile Manufacturing, Six Sigma and Kaizen

Responsibilities

  • Identify and scope potential automation projects including collaborative robotics, vision systems, autonomous material delivery systems, and other new technologies
  • Drive execution/integration of automation projects including concept development, design development, safety reviews (g-risk/g-comply/g-plac), installation, etc)
  • Develop and execute robotic solutions involving hands on robot programming and integration into plant floor systems
  • Develop and execute integration plans for autonomous mobile robots into existing systems
  • Develop training and standardized work to ensure knowledge transfer, lessons learned, and continuous improvement for future projects
  • Collaborate cross functionally with all departments within the site (GA, Body, Paint, Maintenance, Quality, GSC, etc) as well as with other internal and external project stakeholders
  • Collaborate with engineers at other sites on project lessons learned
  • Contribute to execution of both local and corporate driven automation projects
  • Some domestic travel - about 5-10% of the time
