About The Position

The Contributions Manager is an important player in the overall fundraising activities of Jewish Family Service. Working closely with the Director of Development and internal teams, this position will help develop and execute strategies for solicitation that will grow annual revenue from individuals and corporations. This position will assist in strategically strengthening and building a pipeline of prospects through targeted outreach, ensuring that as many as possible are retained as continuous donors to JFS and upgraded in their giving and involvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 2+ years of development experience strongly preferred
  • Excellent skills in MS Word, Outlook and Excel; Strong skills in Constant Contact and donor databases (specific experience in Raiser’s Edge a plus)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work as part of a team and/or facilitate work groups
  • Experience in nonprofit development and networking
  • Ability to work evenings and occasional weekends

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in AP/AR management preferred
  • Experience with social media marketing a plus
  • Ability to be flexible and to handle the versatility of the position

Responsibilities

  • Works with the CAO to develop appropriate cultivation strategies for donor/major donor/planned gift prospects; identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding these individuals, adhering to the highest ethical standards, demonstrating empathetic disposition, and perseverance, reflecting an optimistic and positive attitude, and conveying sensitivity to needs of the donors
  • Leads relationship building efforts for donors under $1,800
  • Assists with relationship building efforts for donors over $1,800 as needed
  • Tracks management strategies and stewardship of donors
  • Conducts research and provides information on prospects and donors.
  • Prepares written materials such as visit strategies/briefings, correspondence, solicitations/proposals and pledge documents for department leadership and CEO
  • Maintains strong and accurate records of activities and prospect management, as directed using the donor database.
  • Monitors, evaluates, and reports on progress and outcomes against agreed upon goals
  • Assists in the development and coordination of solicitation packages and materials for development efforts, which will include assisting in the writing of and producing materials in final form for approval and distribution
  • Assists with development of protocols to streamline the preparation process from strategic discussion to dissemination of materials
  • Assists with donor and sponsor solicitation and stewardship by internally tracking major donors and planned giving progress and assisting in the drafting of external reports for funders and the board
  • Serves on agency & board committees as assigned
  • Fosters employee relations by creating an atmosphere of collaboration and communication
  • Other duties as assigned
