About The Position

The Process Control Room Operator leads and directs Fuel employees who, under the direction of the shift Supervisor and/or Fuel Superintendent, oversee and direct the operation of the Shredding Facility. This position is responsible for monitoring the status of all Fuel Plant systems on a continuous basis. Will respond to alarms by taking appropriate corrective actions and execute plant shut-down and start-up procedures and ensure that the plant meets it’s Shredding requirements while operating in a safe and environmentally efficient manner.

Requirements

All Control Room Operators must have strong leadership and motivational skills, and the ability to stay alert while sitting for long periods of time.
Must be able to work overtime.
Must be able to be respirator fit to comply with OSHA regulation 29 CFR 1910.134

Responsibilities

Controls Operation of Fuel Plant systems including but not limited to: Shredding lines, both MSW and Metal shredding lines, Tipping Floor Operations, fire protection systems, and various computer networks.
Understands and trains other Operators on the operating principles of the Shredding facility’s systems, components and Fire Systems.
Reads and interprets meters, gauges, recorders and annunciators to determine system operating conditions; takes action within prescribed normal and emergency station operating procedures.
Adjusts and monitors temperatures, pressures, flow and levels on station primary system components for plant optimization.
Maintains required logs and calculations; observes these logs for indications of faulty operation; notifies supervisor of abnormal system conditions.
Monitors operability of fire protection systems and the Plant Camera Systems
Accurately reading and recording data, and reporting equipment malfunctions or trends, which indicate possible equipment danger
Identifying and correcting abnormal operating conditions or emergency situations
