Primary Location: United States (US) - Iowa - Dubuque Function: Product Engineering (CA) Title: Control Systems Engineer - 119218 Onsite/Remote:Onsite Position Your Responsibilites As a Control Systems Engineer for JD Dubuque Works located in Dubuque, Iowa, you will: Design and develop next-generation control algorithms that enhance product performance and support automation capabilities. Create advanced sensor fusion algorithms and control models for object tracking of automated perception systems on several construction product lines. Collaborate with Dynamic Systems Modeling (DSM) engineers & robotic simulation engineers to integrate and improve common library toolsets, workflows, and processes to lead the development of physics-based simulation models and control algorithms (using Model Based System Development methodology) to support all stages of virtual verification from Model-in-the-Loop (MiL), Software-in-the-Loop (SiL), Processor-in-the-Loop (PiL), Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL), to Vehicle-in-the-Loop (ViL) performance testing that drives product design decisions. Collaborate with product design teams to define continuous improvement opportunities, expand virtual test capability, and correlate simulation with physical test results. You will also develop a growing understanding of product function, customer application, and machine operation. VISA sponsorship is available for this position.

Requirements

  • 2 or more years applied engineering experience in control theory, sensor fusion, or robotics/kinematics.
  • 2 or more years of experience in knowledge of advanced automations used in construction equipment.
  • 2 or more years of experience in using MATLAB, Simscape, and Simulink for comprehensive simulation and analysis of complex mechanical systems.
  • Experience in demonstrating knowledge utilizing advanced mathematical concepts to solve engineering problems related to design, performance optimization, and system control.
  • Experience in capabilities in conducting statistical analysis to extract insights from field data and virtual models, correlate responses, and maximize model accuracy for continuous system improvement.
  • 2 or more years of experience in knowledge of earthmoving equipment production systems, customer applications, and experience operating construction equipment.
  • Experience in authoring technical design guidelines, control theory documentation, or research papers.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with perception system sensors (vision, radar, lidar, ultrasonics).
  • Deep understanding of sensor fusion algorithms, particularly Kalman filters.
  • Advanced degree in an engineering discipline.
