The Controls and Automation Engineer will design, develop and support the electrical control systems for the SCS and OTS facilities. This includes PLC programming, solid understating of electrical schematic and the ability to collaborate with cross functional teams to deliver reliable control solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical controls or industrial automation (adjust as needed)
  • Proficiency with PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, or similar)
  • Experience with HMI/SCADA systems
  • Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems and control panels
  • Ability to read and create electrical schematics
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with VFDs, servo systems, and motion control
  • Familiarity with industrial communication networks (EtherNet/IP, Profibus, Modbus, etc.)
  • Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments
  • Knowledge of applicable electrical and safety standards (NEC, NFPA, UL, CE)

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain electrical control systems for machinery and automated processes
  • Program, test, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and related control hardware
  • Create and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts
  • Select appropriate electrical components (PLCs, drives, sensors, relays, etc.)
  • Support system commissioning, startup, and on-site troubleshooting
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers, project managers, and technicians
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and company procedures
  • Maintain documentation, including manuals, drawings, and software backups
  • Assist with continuous improvement and system upgrades
