About The Position

PPM Technologies, a leading food equipment manufacturer is looking for a Controls Engineer to join our team. Do you want to be a part of a growing company that creates a great quality product?? In this position you would: Design and program control panels for customized large scale food manufacturing equipment to customer specification. Prepare drawings, including but not limited to wiring schematics, control panel layout diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) Create programs for PLC and HMI operation Work with other Engineers and Project Managers to ensure multiple pieces of equipment will work together. Test and quality check designed systems once built. Commission systems at customer site. Provide technical support to customers with help from Service department. Assist other departments as required and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Analytical problem-solving skills
  • CAD schematic design
  • Experience with RS Logix, Factory Talk View Studio, (Siemens a plus)
  • Must show good initiative, organization and follow-through.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Computer skills proficiency with MS Office: Word, Excel & Outlook.
  • Ability to be resourceful in looking for solutions to overcome any issue.
  • Must work well within a team and at the same time be able to make independent decisions.
  • BSME diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • The employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to sit.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool if necessary.
  • Normal office environment.
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of food processing or related product lines and general knowledge of a custom machinery environment is a plus
