About The Position

Johnson Controls, Inc. seeks Controls Systems Engineer IV at its facility located at 3007 Malmo Dr, Arlington Heights, IL 60005. JOB DESCRIPTION: Work on the design, configuration, and operation of complete building control systems including fire, security, and other low voltage control sub-systems (e.g. lighting, nurse call, data networks, etc.) to meet the intent of the project requirements under general direction. Leverage hardware design tools including Solution Navigator, System Configuration Tool (SCT), Rapid Archive Tool (RAC) Presto, PFM, Metasys®, BMS software and services, Application Data Server (ADS), ADX (Extended Application Data Server), M4-Fault/Triage, (Open Blue) platform, Controller Configuration Tool (CCT), Logic Connector Tool (LCT), System Configuration Tool Pro(SCT Pro), Field Bus Inspection Tool (FIT), Network Integration Engine (NIE), Field Equipment Controller (FEC), Field Application Controller (FAC), CVM, CGM field controller, Variable modular Assembly (VMA) controllers, XPM, IOM (Expansion Modules), Controller Configuration Tool (CCT), Pattern Recognition Adaptive Control (PRAC+), and Configuration Tool (JCT). Accountable to field teams for quality, timeliness and efficiency of designs. Develop complex software programs, commissioning and troubleshooting to ensure proper operations of the building control system. Provide detailed information and submittals to communicate design and operation to customers, consultants, Johnson Controls field installation team and subcontractors. Design and configure technically complex building control systems as defined by the contract documents. Create flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bill of material, network layouts and electrical schematics as required. Develop and test software programs necessary to operate the system with the intent of the project requirements. Coordinate and create necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation. Select, order, and track the delivery of materials for assigned projects. Coordinate factory-mounting processes to meet the factory and project schedule. Assist in the loading and commissioning of all system and network-level controllers as required. Assist in validation of complete system functionality and troubleshoot problems with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation. Provide field change information to the project team for the creation of as-built drawings and software. Keep management and JCI contractors or customers informed of job progress and issues. Assist in performing site-specific training for owner / operator on the total building control system. Participate in release meetings with project field team. Perform value engineering to provide cost effective results while maintaining customer satisfaction. Provide work directions to Systems Design Assistants. Adhere to safety standards with a high degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety. No Telecommuting Allowed.

Requirements

  • This position requires a bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field and Five (5) years of experience as a Controls Engineer, Systems Engineer, or related occupation in the construction HVAC industry or similar industry.
  • Control theory, automatic temperature controls, and building automation systems
  • Integration of low voltage building sub-systems using various industry protocols such as LON and BACnet
  • Utilizing computer-related drafting tools such as Selection Navigator, Word Excel, CCT, SCT, and Visio.
  • Supporting the Data Center complex market
  • Complex systems and testing requirements

Responsibilities
