Controls Technician Data Center Facilities - Buffalo, NY This opportunity is working directly with a leading mission-critical data center developer / wholesaler / colo provider. A fully competent Data Center Onsite Controls Technician - Applies an intensive and diversified knowledge of complete Controls and Building automation systems platforms such as EPMS (Electrical and Power Monitoring Systems), BAS Systems (Building Automation Systems), or BMS System (Building Monitor Systems) in a data center environment - testing and operations. Responsible for programming, integration, implementation commissioning, maintaining and providing emergency support on critical controls systems onsite. They will troubleshoot, install, and make upgrades to existing automation systems for power and cooling systems in a live, mission-critical environment. They will assist in complete startup, commissioning, and validation procedures of these systems. They will collaborate with the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering / Design teams, Software Development teams, Project Managers, Construction Contractors, Equipment Vendors, Field Techs and other Site Operations teams to ensure the reliability, proper operations, acceptance of new and modified installations, automations and software solutions. Applies an intensive and diversified knowledge of complete BMS, BAS, EPMS - coding, testing and operations.

Requirements

Critical Facilities / Data Center experience a huge plus!
Experience with: Honeywell, StruxWare, or Allerton highly preferred!
Distech Controls and Tridium Niagara BAS Platforms a plus
Preferably 3-8+ years experience with BMS /BAS Controls
Previous experience working on Controls Products from companies such as: Johnson Controls / JCI ; Siemens ; Automated Logic ; Honeywell ; GE Control Systems ; Schneider Electric ; Rockwell Automation PLC / ALC Experience
Experience with critical HVAC equipment (Chillers, Air Handlers, CRAC / CRAH units, Boilers, etc.)
Requires knowledge of equipment manufacturer’s specifications
Ability to interpret AE construction drawings, BAS shop drawings, manufacturers wiring diagrams, one-lines, blueprints, CAD Drawings, Control Diagrams, standards documentation, submittals and product data sheets
Ability to follow company and site safety requirements
Must be able to complete Field Service Reports and Assignments accurately and within a timely manner
Analyze and prepare documents, reports and correspondence
Candidate must be willing to work nights & weekends when necessary
MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)
Previous experience in the Military / Military veterans in all branches that have experience with Electrical / Mechanical is a huge plus (Navy nukes- EMN, ETN, MMNs, Seabees, Army - Power Generation, Air Force – Power Production, Generator Techs, Maritime, Coast Guard, etc.)

Responsibilities

Conduct critical facilities Operations and Maintenance (O&M) program analysis and reporting
Work with all vendors to ensure compliance with company guidelines and policies
Oversee all change management and controls system upgrades while maintaining 100% uptime on all existing equipment
Coordinate with Design/Construction Teams
Review commissioning process for new construction and retrofits as it pertains to control processes and SOPS
Assess, recommend and implement industry best practices into new and existing Critical Environment Programs.
Take ownership of all QC / Quality Control of hardware installs
Provide feedback to senior management for the continuous improvement of the Critical Environments program
Repair and Troubleshoot controls systems and hardware (relays, controllers, etc)
Develop process documentation and training materials
Direct and monitor subcontractors (onsite and offsite) including scheduling, resource management and coordination of construction and start-up services as needed. Construction trades generally include various electrical, mechanical and equipment suppliers
Install and wire BAS controllers and field devices including low voltage cable terminations
Installation Coordination of BAS / HVAC Controls Systems
Plan site activities for your team including organize job site materials, logistics, inventory, tools storage and security / access
Lead installation teams on daily and weekly meetings
Support the development and execution of additional services through change orders
Cutover panels and systems in retrofit projects
Develop and Implement Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for site activities
Provide input to project team on developing RFIs, estimating and takeoffs for proposals
Performs commissioning focused design reviews, prepares commissioning test procedures and reports, coordinates and oversees on-site testing, Startup, Commissioning and Closeout of BAS / HVAC Controls Systems
Assist software lead with pre-functional and functional testing
Execute troubleshooting of BAS systems including corrective actions
Participate in commissioning efforts with external stakeholders
Analyze system operation, work with project team to demonstrate system operation and verify consistency with the contracted scope of work
Perform QA / QC of BAS and integrated systems using BAS software tools
Provide installation inspections and other closeout duties to ensure customer acceptance
Provide markups for shop drawings to document as-built conditions
Communicate regularly with subcontractors, project managers, clients and commissioning agents on project progress
Document and track issues and out of scope efforts
Autonomous in day-to-day work with being given high level instruction on projects or assignments
Discuss with technical support problems related to maintenance or operation of equipment
Attend project bid walks, engineering surveys, BAS audits, etc.
QA/QC peer reviews for projects which candidate is not the engineer
Optimize workflow and deliverables by developing templates, standards, automations, etc.
Communicate regularly with internal and external stakeholders, subcontractors, project managers, AEs and commissioning agents on project progress
Assist / Develop all project communication and reporting, weekly progress reports, etc.
